What is a Nose Job Surgery Like?
Rhinoplasty Boston plastic surgeon Dr. Joseph Russo performs has significantly improved their appearance and has drastically changed the way they see themselves because they now exude an aura of self-confidence that can easily be seen in the way they interact with people and the way they carry themselves. That is why nose surgery is becoming a very popular procedure among our patients in the Boston area because we are able to provide very natural results that fit the shape and proportion of our patients so that it will not look as if they had any work done.
A nose job can either make the nose appear smaller, or larger. It can also change the angle of the nose in relation to the patient’s upper lip. A nose job can also alter the tip of our patient’s nose, and help correct bumps, indentations, or any other nose imperfections to improve its appearance.
What is Rhinoplasty?
Nose surgery is usually done in a hospital in Boston using general anesthesia. The techniques used for a nose surgery for each patient is unique, but it is standard for every nose surgery that we perform to involve sculpting the nose cartilage, refining the tip of the nose, and the reduction of the size of the nasal bone. Small incisions will be made at the base of the nose and the inner part of the nostrils. Depending on the results desired by patients in Boston Rhinoplasty surgeon Dr. Russo will mold the underlying bone and structures to achieve a better facial contour and improve the patient’s appearance. After rearranging and reshaping the bone and cartilage, the skin will be re-draped over the nose. A splint will be placed inside the nose to provide support and to ensure that the new shape is maintained while the wounds heal.
What Should Patients Expect After Nose Job Surgery?
During the first week after nose surgery, our patients in Boston are advised to be in an elevated position when they sleep. Patients should expect slight pain and bruise in the nose and eye area. A cold compress can help manage these symptoms. A week after the procedure, our patients will come back to our Boston office for a follow-up to remove the sutures as well as the splint. Our Boston patients will be provided instructions on proper massage techniques that will facilitate healing after rhinoplasty. Best results can be appreciated by our patients in about a year after they had their nose surgery.
