What is a Rhinoplasty?

Under the skillful care of Dr. Joseph A Russo in Boston rhinoplasty can be an incredibly fulfilling, life-changing experience. If you dislike your nose, a nose job reshapes more than just your outward appearance. It can change your approach to others, restore your confidence, and encourage you to go out and be seen in a new way.

Boston rhinoplasty provider, Dr. Russo works with you to determine what changes you would like to make in your appearance. You can make your nose larger or smaller. You can correct bumps, breaks, or misalignments. You can even alter the angle of the nose in relation to your upper lip. The most important thing to remember is that this is your procedure. Dr. Russo helps you take your vision of the nose you want in your mind and bring it to life, using computer-assisted modeling techniques to make sure you have a realistic idea of how this procedure will change your look before surgery.

Rhinoplasty Procedure

Nose surgery is usually done in a hospital in Boston using general anesthesia.

The techniques used for a nose surgery for each patient is unique, but it is standard for every nose surgery that we perform to involve sculpting the nose cartilage, refining the tip of the nose, and the reduction of the size of the nasal bone. Small incisions will be made at the base of the nose and the inner part of the nostrils.

Depending on the results desired by patients in Boston Rhinoplasty surgeon Dr. Russo will mold the underlying bone and structures to achieve a better facial contour and improve the patient’s nasal profile. After rearranging and reshaping the bone and cartilage, the skin will be re-draped over the nose. A splint will be placed inside the nose to provide support and to ensure that the new shape is maintained while the wounds heal.

Rhinoplasty Recovery

During the first week after rhinoplasty Boston patients are advised to be in an elevated position when they sleep. Patients should expect slight pain and bruise in the nose and eye area. A cold compress can help manage these symptoms.

A week after the procedure, our patients will come back to our Boston office for a follow-up to remove the sutures as well as the splint. Our Boston rhinoplasty patients will be provided instructions on proper massage techniques that will facilitate healing after a Rhinoplasty. Best rhinoplasty results can be appreciated by our patients in about a year after they had their nose surgery.
