What is Breast Augmentation?

The only way to increase the size of your breasts (unless you are pregnant or breast feeding) is through breast augmentation. If you want a new, beautiful look for your chest, look into it. If you’ve always wanted bigger breasts, or if you want to restore some size after pregnancy or drastic weight loss, saline or silicone implants can help give you breasts that you consider to be perfect. Breast augmentation can give you a natural look and push your worries away. Don’t let your size or shape affect your personality or how you feel about yourself.

There are three types of breast implants. Saline solution, silicone gel, and composite filler. Saline implants are essentially balloons filled with saline solution which give the breast a very round look. However, most women prefer silicone implants. The silicone gel is sticky and thick, with similar texture to the tissue in your natural breasts, making it an easy fit and natural look.

Precautions Before Breast Augmentation Surgery

If breast augmentation is something you really want, you will have to make some sacrifices in order to prepare. This includes stopping smoking and avoiding aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications that could cause extra bleeding.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

Just like with any surgery, there is some recovery time. You will need to take care of yourself. However, this is nothing to worry about. It is normal and perfectly safe. And if you truly want a new chest, it will be worth it.

You may feel sore and stiff in your chest region for two to five days. There may be some pain during the first 48 hours, but only because the tissue is more tender than usual. The pain will decrease every day, especially with the help of pain medication. After a few days, you will be able to take a shower. You should avoid from lifting the weight, pushing and pulling that can be causes of pain in the chest. You have to minimize your physical activities, at least for the first two weeks of your surgery. After about 25 days, you should feel completely fine. If you notice any serious problems (such as infection, redness, or intense pain), talk to your surgeon straight away. However, these more serious effects are extremely rare.

Almost all the time, women report leading a much more happy life after receiving breast augmentation procedures. To make sure you are also one of those, you should consult a qualified and competent plastic surgeon in Boston like Dr. Joseph Russo.
