What are Juvederm fillers?

As you age, your skin changes. For example, it reduces the production of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA).

Over time, the loss of HA in your skin results in facial wrinkles and folds, like those “parentheses” lines around your mouth. That’s why Boston plastic surgeon, Joseph A. Russo, MD, recommends Juvederm. Juvederm is used to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds. The aging process is most visible on our faces as lines and wrinkles begin to form around our eyes, lips, and nose.

In addition, our smile lines begin to deepen and jowls can form on our jaws from sagging skin, or hollows form under our eyes and cheekbones. Juvederm is a non-surgical dermal gel that can correct these signs of aging. It works by restoring volume and filling in lines and wrinkles through injections to targeted areas on your face, including around the lips, eyes, and mouth. It can also add roundness to reshape your face for a younger appearance.

Types of Juvederm

Juvederm is actually a term that refers to the entire line of HA gels, which are designed to target different areas of your face.

Juvederm Voluma

As the only FDA-approved filler for your midface and cheeks, Voluma is specifically meant to add volume to your face with its thicker gel consistency. This creates the effect of a mini facelift as Voluma works to reduce jowls and sagging. Voluma can also be used to build lift in your cheekbones. In addition, Voluma can last up to two years.

Juvederm Vollure

Vollure has a medium consistency gel, which is best used for nasolabial folds and marionette lines, also known as the deep creases around your mouth and nose. In addition, Vollure injections can last for up to 18 months.

Juvederm and Juvederm Volbella

The original Juvederm and Volbella are both effective at filling in shallow wrinkles and lines in your face with their thinner consistency. They can also add plumpness to your lips, which can completely change your entire appearance. Juvederm will last up to six months, while Volbella can last up to a year, if not longer.

What makes Juvederm different?

While other HA fillers on the market have a more granular consistency, Juvederm injectable gel is the first smooth-consistency HA gel. This is due to an innovative manufacturing process called HYLACROSS technology.

HYLACROSS gives Juvederm its unique smooth-gel properties as well as an optimal gel structure that holds up over time. That’s why Juvederm injectable gel is the only HA filler that’s FDA approved to last up to a year. Our Juvederm treatments qualify for rewards through Allergan’s Brilliant Distinctions® Rewards program. Results from Juvederm

Juvederm begins to work as soon as it’s injected. While you will notice results right away from Juvederm, it will take an additional two weeks for your face to settle into its final look as the Juvederm works on smoothing your skin. Yes. Juvederm injectable gel treatments provide non-surgical reshaping of your face similar to a facelift without scarring or a long recovery time.

Not especially. While some patients struggle with the idea of a needle going into their face, Juvederm actually comes with small amounts of lidocaine (a numbing agent) already in it. This further minimizes any discomfort you might feel

Because there are different types of Juvederm, the price varies for each one. You may also end up combining injection types as you treat multiple areas of your face and/or combine Juvederm with other procedures. Juvederm is an elective procedure, so it is not covered by insurance providers. However, you can get financing or inquire about payment plans if needed.
