What is Sofwave?

The older you get, the less your body produces a substance called collagen. With less collagen, your skin begins to lose its elasticity, causing it to sag. This in turn creates wrinkles, lines, and a rougher skin texture. You may find that these changes make you unhappy with your appearance and you want to find a way to restore a younger profile to your face.

Sofwave is a new FDA-approved treatment that rebuilds your collagen. This procedure is non-invasive, using ultrasound waves instead to deliver treatment for all skin types. This device targets the middle part of your dermal layer where collagen is. By sending the ultrasound energy into this area, your body begins to produce more collagen.

In turn, this contracts your skin and causes it to tighten, reducing lines and wrinkles. Boston plastic surgeon Joseph Russo, M.D., uses innovative treatments like Sofwave to address skin issues. Dr. Russo understands any frustration you may be experiencing and can help you find a solution to improve your self-esteem.

Benefits of Sofwave

Sofwave provides many benefits for someone who is unhappy with their changing facial appearance as lines and wrinkles begin to develop and skin loses its smooth texture. Sofwave is non-surgical, meaning that treatment times are short and you can return to the rest of your activities after treatment. It’s safe for both men and women and works on all skin types. Sofwave is most effective when treatments are focused on the face and neck areas. In fact, you can even use Sofwave if you’ve already had facial fillers.

Are You a Candidate for Sofwave?

If you would like to know more about receiving Sofwave treatments, you will need to come in for a consultation with Dr. Russo.

He will examine you and review your medical history to make sure you’re eligible for the procedure. The best candidates are at least in their 30s and have some mild to moderate levels of wrinkles and lines on their faces.

The Sofwave Procedure

The treatment time for Sofwave only takes between 30-40 minutes, making this an outpatient procedure that will occur at the doctor’s office. Using its proprietary Ultrasound Beam technology, Sofwave sends energy into the middle part of your skin and creates 3D thermal areas shaped like cylinders.

As these thermal zones heat up, your body reacts by stimulating the production of collagen and tightening your skin. As it heats up with thermal energy, the Sofwave device will also cool your skin at the same time, making this procedure safe for your top layer of skin and making this treatment more effective.

SOFWAVE RESULTS

After your Sofwave treatment, collagen will begin to increase inside your body. While you may notice results as early as one week after treatment, improvements can continue for up to three to six months as collagen continues to grow. As time passes, you will notice your skin continue to tighten and your lines and wrinkles become less pronounced.

Recovery After Sofwave

Sofwave treatments are non-invasive and require no downtime. You can drive to your treatment and drive back once you are finished. You can continue your day and your regular level of activities.

Sofwave FAQ

If you are in your 30s or older, you may notice fine lines and wrinkles forming on your face. Sofwave is especially effective at combating mild to moderate signs of aging and can help restore natural, younger contours to your face.

Not really. Some parts of your skin may be more sensitive than others, so you may feel a little tender after the procedure. Dr. Russo applies a numbing analgesic before the treatment, which helps if you have sensitive skin. There is also an internal cooling device that decreases discomfort.

Sofwave procedure costs depend on which area you have treated, or if you have multiple areas treated at the same time. Considered an elective procedure, Sofwave is not covered by insurance providers. If you need help with the costs, there are payment and financing plans available to Dr. Russo’s patients.
