The prolific journalist Charles Bowden once wrote  that “summertime is always the best of what might be”. Here at Dr. Joseph Russo’s plastic surgery clinic in Massachusetts, we will help you make your summer this year as the best that you could be with Ultherapy, a non-invasive procedure to help you achieve perfect skin this summer.  Read on as we answer your most common questions on Ultherapy!

How exactly does Ultherapy work?

This non-invasive procedure makes use of ultrasonic waves to lift and tighten sagging skin for a more youthful look. It does not disrupt superficial skin structures and delivers tiny amounts of heat to deeper tissues of the skin instead. The heat produced stimulates the skin’s collagen, a naturally-occurring protein which helps your skin appear tight and toned.

So is Ultherapy really non-invasive?

Ulthera’s DeepSEE technology was patented in 2009 and has allowed plastic surgeons to see and treat below the skin without surgery. No injections and laser are involved.

Which body parts could benefit from Ultherapy?

Apart from the face, other body parts which could benefit well from Ultherapy include the neck, chin, area near your underarms, elbows, and knees.

How long does an Ultherapy session take?

Ultherapy takes only 30 to 60 minutes to activate the body’s natural healing process in a way that gradually and reliably restores youthfulness to the skin and deep tissue. Over the next 2-3 months, stronger collagen regeneration is stimulated, giving patients the ultimate skin rejuvenation.

How many Ultherapy sessions do I need?

By and large, you only need one session of Ultherapy to get the results you want.

How long do the Ultherapy results last?

While the results of this non-invasive procedure is permanent, you may  have to continue treatment after 2 to 3 years as aging is continuous.

Is Ultherapy painful?

Extreme pain is rarely felt by individuals who have gone through Ultherapy. Slight discomfort has been reported and is often remedied with the application of topical  anesthesia.
