The effect of spray tanning will greatly depend on your preparations before and after the procedure, as well as how well you take care of your skin right after the procedure. Having the perfect tan does not last forever, but you can extend its life on your skin. There are tanning extenders that can be used once a day for every two days. Don’t forget to use it with a moisturizing cream!
Here are other surefire tips to keep that tan a little longer:
Use facial tanners
Since the tan on the face tends to fade a lot faster than all the other areas in the body (since we regularly wash it, put on make-up, etc.), a facial tanner can help maintain the tan on the area. Apply it once a week to help match the color of your body to your face.
No exfoliating
Exfoliation is a no-no when you have already spray tanned. If you want to maintain your color, avoid exfoliating products, microdermabrasion, and any other similar treatment. Don’t even roughly dry off with a towel.
Moisturize your skin every day
Moisturizing is very important. Use a lotion immediately after you have showered, which is within 8 to 10 minutes. Moisturizing during this time brings more desirable effects.
Avoid using certain products
You don’t want to get uneven skin color by using band aids, pore strips, face masks, anti-acne products, and hair removal creams.
Other important tips
Be aware of the products that could easily cause the fading of your tan, such as toners, astringents, and bar soaps. Furthermore, while in the beach or pool, be sure to apply a thick sport or waterproof SPF lotion to protect your tan from the water.
