What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a more robust dermal filler for added support and structure to restore facial volume and correct moderate to severe folds and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. That’s why our Boston Med Spa at Joseph A Russo, M.D., offers Radiesse.

Radiesse is longer-lasting - up to one year or more - and has the unique ability to stimulate the growth of new collagen. Radiesse is a safe, FDA-approved dermal filler that restores a natural, long-lasting, youthful look. Dr. Russo is both an educator and expert plastic surgeon who knows how to personalize each patient’s experience in order to create the best results possible.

How does Radiesse work?

Radiesse works with your body, below the skin’s surface. Tiny calcium-based microspheres form a “scaffold” to support and stimulate the growth of your collagen. Over time, the calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed by your body. Radiesse does more than just temporarily fill-in facial folds and wrinkles – it can restore facial volume for the youthful look you want.

Benefits of Radiesse

As you grow older, your body begins to produce less collagen. As a result, your skin loses elasticity, causing it to sag and create wrinkles and lines. This is especially evident in your face, which may make your self-confidence waver as you meet your gaze in the mirror and notice daily reminders of these changes.

Radiesse is a convenient treatment that can restore facial volume as well as correct smile lines, Nasolabial Folds, and wrinkles around the nose and mouth, helping create a younger, more radiant appearance. Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin through a simple, safe, and minimally invasive procedure. And even better, treatment results are immediate with little to no downtime.

Am I a Candidate for Radiesse in Boston?

While some wrinkles and lines may form as early as your 20s, factors such as sun damage and loss of collagen in your skin can accelerate the aging process. Radiesse can help rewind the clock and ease the aging process through its calcium-based formula. If you would like to take the next step in reinvigorating your face, then contact our office to schedule a consultation.

During your consultation for Radiesse Boston registered nurse, Lauren, will examine you, review your medical history, and create a customized plan to take care of your specific needs. The best candidates for Radiesse are between 35-60, in basic good health, and already have wrinkles, lines, and folds around their nose and mouth. To find out if Radiesse is right for you, schedule a consultation at our Boston medical spa today.

Radiesse Procedure

Because Radiesse injections are non-surgical and minimally invasive, your treatment will take place at the doctor’s office. The injection itself should take no more than 15 minutes or so, but this can be longer if you have multiple areas treated and/or you combine Radiesse with other procedures.

How is Radiesse performed?

The doctor will begin by treating the targeted areas with a topical anesthetic to numb your skin. Radiesse is then injected into the skin through a simple, safe, convenient procedure. Once the injection(s) is complete, your procedure is done and you can leave.

Radiesse Results

How long will Radiesse results last?

Keep in mind that as your body begins to produce more collagen, there will be more subtle changes as your skin tightens even more and its texture begins to smooth out. In addition, Radiesse may last a year or more in many patients. Since results may vary, be sure to discuss your expectations with your doctor.

How soon can I expect results from Radiesse?

Since Radiesse is a dermal filler, the results are immediately visible under your skin. However, there may be some swelling at the site of the injection(s), so your appearance will continue to change as the swelling subsides and the results become fully visible.

Radiesse FAQ

Yes. Hundreds of thousands of patients have experienced Radiesse and more than 4,000 physicians worldwide such as our Boston Radiesse experts have been trained to provide treatments. Through years of clinical studies and independent research, Radiesse has proven to be safe and effective. With Radiesse, you get FDA-approved, safe, clinically tested reliability.

Many patients will achieve their desired result with Radiesse after just one visit. Because Radiesse is a long-term cosmetic enhancement, and to ensure your satisfaction, your physician might schedule a follow-up visit, where a touch-up treatment may be recommended.

Normal, injection-related reactions, such as mild irritation, swelling, itching, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site may occur. These conditions typically resolve on their own.

Like any injection, Radiesse treatments may feel uncomfortable depending on your skin sensitivity, which is different for every person and area treated. While the injections should not be painful, you can discuss your concerns with your nurse injector and the possibility of a topical numbing cream for your procedure

The cost of Radiesse varies according to what areas you’re having treated, the degree of treatment required for each area, and the total number of treatment areas you select. Radiesse injections are considered elective cosmetic treatments and are therefore not covered by insurance. Ask about financing or payment plans if needed for treatment.

No. Radiesse results are long-lasting, but not permanent. The calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed by your body. However, Radiesse is long-lasting for a dermal filler, and you can have more than one treatment to extend your results. You can also have maintenance treatments as the filler is absorbed.
