What is CoolTone?

While you may be working hard to develop your body, you may feel that the process hasn’t produced the exact results you want.

CoolTone is a noninvasive procedure that uses a device to contour your muscles via a technique called Magnetic Muscle Stimulation (MMS). CoolTone uses MMS to contour, tone, and strengthen muscles, specifically in your thighs, buttocks, and abdomen.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Joseph Russo, M.D., and his team of aesthetic experts specialize in body contouring procedures including CoolTone. We understand the need to see results when you’ve put in the work and can help you reach your cosmetic goals.

HOW DOES COOLTONE WORK?

No Pain, All Gain

Engaging in physical activity triggers our muscles to contract, resulting in the accumulation of lactic acid. This lactic acid buildup is responsible for the familiar soreness we experience post an intense workout session or when we resume exercising after a break. However, CoolTone introduces a distinct approach. During your CoolTone session, your muscles engage in a rhythmic contraction and release process. What sets CoolTone apart is the incorporation of a "tapping" mechanism, which effectively prevents the buildup of lactic acid within those muscles. This innovation translates to a workout experience without the subsequent muscle soreness.

The remarkable feature of CoolTone lies in its ability to deliver the equivalent impact of 25,000 sit-ups or squats (depending on the targeted treatment area) – all condensed into a mere 30-minute session! This revolutionary approach to muscle stimulation not only saves time but also promises a discomfort-free aftermath, making it an attractive option for those seeking effective muscle toning without the accompanying soreness.

Benefits of CoolTone

While there are many benefits to exercising regularly, it takes a lot of effort to maintain sculpted muscles in your abdomen, legs, and thighs. It also takes a good amount of time, and if you don’t invest that time, then your muscle tone will fade and your hard work will be lost.

As we age, it's natural for our bodies to undergo changes, and one of these changes involves the gradual loss of muscle mass. This typically beings around the age of 30 and continues at a rate of about 3-5% per decade. However, the good news is that there are effective ways to counteract this trend and achieve numerous benefits by actively building and maintaining muscle mass.

Engaging in muscle-building activities brings about a host of positive outcomes that extend beyond mere physical appearance. By embarking on a muscle-building journey, you're not only enhancing your muscle tone, but you're also making a significant contribution to your overall well-being. First and foremost, building muscle mass serves as a safeguard for your joints, reducing the risk of injuries. It also contributes to an improved sense of balance, thereby minimizing the chances of falls and related accidents. Also, focusing on strengthening your core muscles can provide relief from back pain and foster better posture habits.

The benefits extend to your body's metabolic processes as well. As you increase your muscle mass, your body becomes more efficient at burning fat, leading to potential improvements in energy levels and stress reduction. Interestingly, these positive effects can even bolster your immune system, enhancing your body's ability to ward off illnesses.

CoolTone gives you a way to stimulate your muscles, causing contractions that not only create more definition but actually build muscle over time. By sending electromagnetic energy into your body, it causes your muscles to contract, toning your physique. Even better, this is a non-surgical treatment, so no downtime is needed for recovery. It’s also been FDA approved, making it both safe and effective for use.

Am I a Candidate for CoolTone?

CoolTone is an ideal way to approach sculpting the muscles in your abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. However, it is not a treatment for weight loss.

Thus, CoolTone is normally recommended for someone at or near their weight goal who would like a more athletic build to their body. You should also be in reasonably good health, not suffering from seizures, and not have any active bleeding. When you come in for your consultation for CoolTone Boston Body Contouring Specialist, Sabrina, will examine you and review your medical history to make sure you’re eligible.

CoolTone Procedure

The CoolTone device has a box shape with a screen and an applicator shaped like a paddle. During the treatment, our master aestheticians will take the paddle and place them firmly on the desired treatment area(s). This applicator creates a magnetic field, which produces an energy current that passes your skin and focuses on your muscles, which are better conductors of this magnetic energy.

This creates thousands of small, involuntary contractions in your muscles, strengthening the fibers and improving definition. While there are different levels of intensity, moderate to high levels provide better results, and you can feel your muscles contracting as they are stimulated by the CoolTone applicator. This outpatient procedure normally takes from 20-30 minutes to complete.

Recovery After CoolTone

CoolTone is an outpatient procedure conducted in-office, and each treatment lasts only 30 minutes. Because this is non-invasive, there is no recovery time needed, and you can return to work, school, or other obligations right after your scheduled procedure.

CoolTone Results

CoolTone is most effective as a repeat treatment. While there is no recovery time, results may begin to develop within 2-4 weeks after your initial treatment, but you will continue to see improvements in your muscle definition and muscle mass for up to six months.

While most Boston CoolTone patients choose to start with 4-6 treatments, many also choose to have follow-up treatments after their initial sessions to maintain their results. We recommend 6-8 treatment sessions, twice weekly, for optimal results. It’s also important to exercise regularly and balance your diet in order to continue seeing results.

CoolTone FAQ

If you would like to strengthen and tone the muscles in your abdomen, buttocks, and thighs and are at or near your goal weight, the CoolTone may be the right solution for you. Not only will it help firm your target area, but it will also create more defined muscles.

No. While you will feel contractions and spasms during the treatment, these are mild and do not cause pain. Someone with less muscle mass may find they are more sensitive to muscle spasms and experience a decrease in energy.

The cost of CoolTone changes depending on which parts of the body you choose to have treated if you treat more than one area or the number of treatments you end up getting. CoolTone is considered an elective procedure because it’s normally done for cosmetic reasons, not medical ones. Insurance providers do not cover elective procedures, so you will need to cover the costs yourself. However, we offer several treatment and membership packages, and offer financing and payment plans to fit your aesthetic and financial needs.
